Sue McAuliffe-Curnias
 

    Only one woman has ever received the CHSCA coach of the year award in three different sports: Sue Curnias of West Hartford.
    Curnias coached gymnastics for nine years at William Hall High, with a 78-37 record and a coach of the year award in 1980.
    She has coached track and field at Hall for 18 seasons (138-13) with a Class LL and state open title in 1986, when she earned coach of the year honors in that sport. with 28 seasons of cross country coaching, she is 350-99-1 with a Class L state title in 1987 and a coach of the year award in 1988.
    Her teams also have 19 league titles, three state runner-up spots and 20 third or fourth-place finishes. She also coached swimming for two years at Conard (14-5).
    She has been a NHSACA Region I coach of the year in both track and cross country and has been recognized by the Connecticut Track and Field Association and the National Federation and was national high school coach of the year in track and field (1992).
    She has served on the CIAC track and gymnastics committees and with the CHSCA in both sports as well. She has served as a vice president of the Connecticut Association of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation and Dance; served on the Wethersfield Recreation Commission and the West Hartford Coaches Council. She has served as a track and field official.
    She and her husband, James, have a daughter, Christina.
