Welcoming Babies with Down Syndrome

Rose is our daughter and our sister. She was born February 26, 1999 with Down syndrome and has had a very exciting life since then. This website is our family's story of our experiences with Rose. The picture above is Rose, 9, with older sisters Katie, 15, and Erin, 19, showing off Rugby shirts from their Great Grandfather's hometown (that's another story) in July 2008.

Please share this with anyone who wants to know what it's like to raise a child with Down Syndrome, what it's like to go through some medical crises, what its like to start school in an Inclusive setting in her neighborhood school or is just interested in how our family is doing. People naturally have many questions about "What it's like?" Families have all types of different experiences but this is our "what it's like". Hopefully, this will help dispel some of the fears and uncertainties and provide a positive example. We've learned that most of the differences and barriers really are in adults. Given the right opprotunities, the child is ready.
